Jos Offermans

Nickname: None
Age: 58

Can you tell us a bit about you and your sporting background? How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I have played soccer and practiced Tae Kwondo for many years. I also teached Tae Kwon Do. After a long period I started running and I did my first marathon in Paris. Then I started fitness and through the years I started my own bootcamp club (Bootcamp Limburg) and I learned more about fitness to become a certified fitness trainer, bootcamp trainer and certified CrossFit Level 1 Coach. I’ve been doing CrossFit for almost three years now.

When did you deside to become a CrossFit certified coach? And what is your favorite aspect of being a CrossFit coach?
When I started CrossFit at CrossFit Heerlen I started to learn for the CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Course. Danny was looking for a qualified en certified coach. So I started to learn and learn… and now I have my Level 1 Cert! I just like the coaching aspect very much; motivating and sharing knowledge about living a healthy lifestyle through CrossFit.

When and how did you find out about CrossFit Heerlen?
I heard about CrossFit Heerlen when I was looking for a new box. So I contacted Danny and started with a trial class. At that time he was giving classes in an old schoolbuilding, because he couldn’t get a permit for the intended location. Although the location wasn’t yet ideal I liked the atmosphere and the way Danny explained everything. Danny was also positive about competitive CrossFitters, so I became a member of Crossfit Heerlen.

What do you like most about CrossFit Heerlen? What made you apply?
Everything, the lessons, the box, the community. I’m loving the fact that I’m a member of a great coach team where every coach thinks the same about virtuosity in coaching.

Do you have any further ambitions?
Yes, I will not stop learning about CrossFit…What are some of your favourite activities outside the box?
Bootcamp and obstacle runs. What is your ultimate goal in CrossFit and/or at CrossFit Heerlen?
As a coach I want to help other people becoming a better version of themselves through CrossFit. My ultimate personal goal is to compete at the CrossFit Games Masters division and getting better and stronger each year.
