My name is Ingrid and I am 31 years old. I live near the box in Heerlen together with my boyfriend. I am a primary school teacher and I have been teaching group 3 for a few years now. I really enjoy teaching and like to involve education through physical activities a lot. In my professional career I have seen and noticed the benefits of being physically active for children.
As a child I always exercised a lot and participated in everything. I always loved (and still love) to discover new things. Unfortunately I got injured around the age of 18 and everything slowed down. At one point I picked up fitness and running again, because this was easy to combine with my work as a substitute. Unfortunately, another injury to my foot occurred. While looking on the internet I came across Crossfit. I found this so fascinating and inspiring that I wanted to give it a try. I also saw CrossFit athletes and people with injuries playing sports and that triggered me. I went looking and it turned out that CrossFit Heerlen was actually established close to my home. I went to a trial class and what struck me most was the friendliness and positive atmosphere that hung there. I immediately registered for the Fundamentals course and never left.
The diversity of exercises and especially the atmosphere really appeal to me. As a passionate teacher and an enthusiastic CrossFit Level 1 athlete/trainer becoming a CrossFit Kids coach was a logical next step for me. And I was glad that Danny and Thessyana – the owners of CrossFit Heerlen – felt the same way. Then I heard CrossFit Heerlen was in need for a professional and passionate Youth Coach preferably with a didactic and/or pedagogical background, so I was immediately enthusiastic because this is right up my alley. I really enjoy teaching children and I think CrossFit is a great method for children to learn life skills and that fitness is fun actually. I look forward to stimulating the children to continue to develop as a person and as an athlete, and to let them explore all the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
