We are very excited to announce Ingrid de Kok as the new CrossFit Kids & Teens coach at CrossFit Heerlen. Ingrid is a primary school teacher, Level 1/CrossFit Kids trainer and Certified Professional Youth Coach, but above all she is very passionate and enthusiastic to teach and coach our youngest members!
Ingrid has built a reputation in the CrossFit Heerlen member community for her commitment, perseverance and eagerness to learn. She has done so much studying that some would consider her as an overqualified teacher, but she is never too shy or proud to ask or learn anything. Because of her positive presence and attitude she is definitely the right fit for our box, so we can’t wait to see her leading our Kids and Teens classes.

Age: 31 (1989)
Can you tell us a bit about you and your sporting background?
As a child I did many different sports. Lots of netball and swimming. As an adult I mostly did fitness and running before I discovered the sport of fitness CrossFit. As a primary school teacher I’m also involved with physical education.
What made you want to try it in the beginning?
After injuries and moving my hometown, I wanted to start with something I could do. After searching the internet I found CrossFit Heerlen nearest to my home. I went to a trial class and I was immediately sold.
What is your favorite aspect of being a CrossFit coach?
The fun of the children. Motivate children to exercise and have fun. I also really like coming up with games, and some say I’m good at it… 😊
What made you apply?
I really enjoy teaching (which makes sense as a teacher ;)) and I really like CrossFit. After 2 years of doing it myself and being crazy about it, this was a logical step. Teaching children to move with pleasure is great. At school I am also very busy with physical education and implementing physical activities in my classes, so called “energizers”.
What was your first CrossFit WOD ever?
It was an high skill workout with Snatches and Overhead Squats for strength training, and as many Double Unders, Kettlebell Snatches and Air Squats as possible in 12 minutes. Tough, but challenging… 🙂
What’s your favourite CrossFit WOD?
I always “like” longer Hero WODs. Longer workouts suit me.
And what’s your favourite CrossFit movement/exercise?
The Echo Bike is my favourite piece of equipment 😊 and Dumbbell Snatches are also a lot of fun to do.
What’s your favourite workout music (genre and/or track)?
I like almost everything. But if I train on my own, I actually don’t really listen to music…
What are some of your favourite activities outside the box?
I love to hike, play games and to travel with my boyfriend. I also love to read.
Finally, what is your ultimate goal in CrossFit and/or at CrossFit Heerlen?
I look forward to make the classes I will lead as fun and challenging as possible for the children. I hope that the children will learn that exercise is actually fun and something cool (and healthy!), so that they can experience a life long healthy lifestyle. Exercise is good for body and mind.
